I have a probelm

I can't seem to can't go to my felkyo account I wonder why?

Apparently everyone that has their site hosted by MyAdopts has that problem... There was probably too many people on the server again. >.<' Thats why I'm thinking of paying for my own server, of course the only problem is cost... unless I put it up on a free server, though I'm not sure if those are any better. >.>' I'd have to look into it, sadly right now I'm too busy with finishing all my university work for tomorrow. But the owner of MyAdopts should be sorting it out as soon as he comes online, which is usually a day or two at the most. I wouldnt worry too much yet, but I'm really sorry that the server is down. I hope everyone can be patient with me and the server owner and take a small break before it hopefully comes back up then I can launch the christmas pets. And since the christmas pets were supposed to be launched today I'll keep them up for two weeks from whenever they launch, so they'll still be around for a while. In the mean time anybody can hang around these forums, thankfully their not on the same server.

okay um pixaadopts are also down. I hope so cause it keeps saying not site not found.

I've noticed that the myadopts server goes down from time to time. I get the message that the server load is too high, which probably means too many people are on there. It does seem to be worse lately, though.

Usually I just wait a few minutes and try again when I get that message. Or I try to go in the off-hours if that doesn't work out.

No this one was a big server crash, the whole thing was completely off for about 24 hours with site owners panicking. This is half the reason I'm thinking about getting another server... I'll have to do a lot more research though.

Darn it I really dislike this server, its not really the servers fault theres just too many sites sharing it and people on it. It's really tempting to try moving the site to another server... I'm afraid we'll have to stick to this forum while the sites down, I'm glad this forum isnt on the same server... If the site is still down over the new year dont worry I'll release the new years pet on the day the sites back up. I'm sorry about the unexpected down time, I'd do something about it if I could.

Yep-it looks like all of myadopts is down-including their forums etc-and it has been for some time.

Hmm-you might talk to tinnidawg or Rosehill over on MS about free server sites-the issue with those appears to be the SQL used in running things (hence the issues with the MS image free nursery). Apparently bandwidth available is not an issue with those-but too heavy an SQL load (e.g. from people clicking pets) may overload the database capacity.

Anyway, I can understand the frustration Ruinily: I am frustrated myself because I want to play and I can't!

However, if you do move Felkyo to another host? You may end up with the same issue (too much demand all at once) if you get an account on a shared server, even if you pay for the space. I wonder if there is a solution out there that you can afford (a private server/VPS likely is not one of those if I am not mistaken)?

And I really am tempted to move it, my only problem is if it broke I'd have to try and fix it myself. I know some coding and can learn fast, but I'm nowhere near an expert... If I had someone on board that knew how to easily deal with sql and servers I'd either find a good free server or pay for one. I already know of a cheap one that seems reliable, one of the sites that used to be linked on the portals pae used it and I dont think it crashed at all. I dont think it would be too demanding on running space since there isnt that many people on at the same time, but all the pages and pet images must take up some room... Maybe I should talk to those people on MS, if they dont mind helping...

I'm a member here, and it looks extremely similar to myadopts, but it isn't on the myadopts server. On the bottom is says it uses some kind of script and has a link. I haven't looked at it so I don't know much beyond it. It may be something to look into, though, if you're considering a move.

Yeh I think its another type of Rusnak script which is what the myadopts is based off. If I moved to a new server I'd be able to edit that script I think and change anything I want... I'd have to check it out. I'm grateful for any help or information on this though.

this is heart breaking the sites are down again and what's worse is snowing here.

Dont worry it was only down for a little time today. Sometimes the server gets temporarily overloaded with all the sites that are sharing it. Another reason why I need to find out about moving the site....

Well, I just checked the main site (1/21/2011, 4:48 p.m.). Not there; Firefox gave me a "cannot find" (404).

Since the myadopts server is quite tempermental, I wouldn't mind moving. The new change they did to the script is about the most useless thing I've seen for leveling up pets into new stages, too.

what's with showing that we only have 10 pets?

It's been answered in the topic about an option to show all pets. Basically the server crashed, and that's what they put in to deal with it. They're looking for another solution to it.

Sadly I havent a clue... I'm still waiting on BMR... he has been around, but he hasnt responded to me for some reason... darn it I'm beginning to wish I'd moved it earlier...
